Some movies don't pretend to be earth-shattering, shocking, or profound. The films on this list are charming, authentic, and unpretentious. In most cases, they work because the director is young and uncorrupted by Hollywood, and because he really cared about making a good film instead of making big money, or a big statement. In some cases, as in PASSION FISH, for example, there are magical moments that sneak up on you from nowhere and leave you with an exhilarating sense of personal discovery.
