Typical John Hughes fare: likeable, misfit teens, struggle
for mutual self-acceptance. Molly Ringwald is charming.
Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson moderately effective.
Unfortunate stereo-type of frustrated, oppressive teacher.
The five brat-packers are summoned for Saturday detention
and gradually develop a sense of mutual respect and
understanding for each other. Or do they just realize they
have a common enemy in the caricatured teacher?
