Funny Games
A new, English version of this movie by Michael Haneke will be released in North America this fall, and if the film is true to the director's vision, a lot of viewers will find it disturbing.
Hanake may be crazy but he's not stupid. He believes that most Hollywood movies actually glamorize violence, and corrupt their audiences by encouraging them to take pleasure in the visceral punishment doled out to persons who, in the movie, deserve to die anyway. Coincidentally, Jodie Foster's new movie appears to be a perfect example of such films.
