Details about Yes and No

Yes and No is a movie about the paradox of love: if I'm your everything-- am I just in love with myself?

Aaron is not sure he's ready for the burden of accepting Erika's total commitment.  Erika wonders if Aaron is just afraid to admit that he's lucky or blessed.  She is a spiritually driven woman who wants, more than anything else in the world, to not want.  And Aaron is beginning to realize that the gift of everything might be less about surrender than it is about possession.

Theirs is a love that demands renunciation, and a renunciation that demands love.

All this while Aaron, a labour organizer, tries to convince a group of teachers at a Christian school that to stand up for justice, they have to stand up for themselves.

The funny thing about humility--
As soon as you know you're being humble,
You're no longer humble...

T-Bone Burnett, "Trap Door"

Are you interested in volunteering to help bring Yes and No to the big screen?  We need actors, costumers, make-up artists, crew, and support staff.

Contact Bill Van Dyk.

A screenplay for Yes and No is well into development, and auditions for actors will begin when the screenplay is completed.

Production Yes and No is not really "no-budget".  In fact, we will be shooting on hi-definition video and will use very good boom microphones and audio equipment, and state of the art editing and effects software.

We have also lined up some local musical talent to provide an original score.  We even hope to shoot a few crowd scenes.  It does mean we probably won't be able to pay any of the actors or crew unless we are able to sell the finished production.  So this will be a labour of love, and opportunity for the talent involved to stretch themselves and see if they can achieve something special.  We do plan to submit the finished production to festivals and make it available for distribution DVD through the internet.
